I came across this news item about a thief who showed no remorse over his crimes, when in court, and so received this unusual sentence. Here is the report.
——
Justice-Nigeria – A Magistrate Court in Nigeria’s South-west town of Osogbo has ordered a convicted thief to be given 10 strokes of the cane once every two months for the next five years, in addition to serving a five-year jail term. Magistrate Adewunmi Makanjuola pronounced the sentence on 41-year-old Timothy Awolowo, Monday after he pleaded guilty to a burglary charge. The judge said the convict, who was not represented by a lawyer, has shown no remorse for the offence, hence he should be caned bi-monthly until he is remorseful.

I believe that this kind of thing in a fantasy situation is OK but as a real legal measure, I am against this type of punishment.

Unless it is being handed out by these two administrators
Then you would not find me very remorseful either 🙂

I have been meaning and meaning to tell you………..
I love your header line “lead me not into temptation I can find my own way”
I might steal it one day (cheeky grin)
I’m not 100% sure of it’s origins but it is very often attributed to Rita Mae Brown, a famous civil rights and Gay and lesbian rights activist, who is known for her novels, poetry and screenplays. I loved the saying from the first time that I heard it, many many years ago Morningstar.
Please do steal it, I did 🙂

Now I would happily take 10 strokes of the cane every two month for five years:)
Seriously I agree with you about this type of punishment.

You could always ask P Ronnie 🙂
By the way The URL address that you are using to post comments here is incorrect. You have an “e” where you should have a full stop. I keep correcting it with the editing thingy here but I thought that I would just let you know.

Fantasy, yes; real life prison punishment, no. But it’s an interesting concept. Like Supernanny making the naughty child sit on the naughty chair until he/she says “sorry”.

Makes me wonder if there might be a place for the naughty chair in the legal system. 🙂
