ROSES WITH AND WITHOUT THORNS

A couple of weeks ago, I came across (not literally) a Twitter feed called Dommes Clothing. There is a link below

DOMMES CLOTHING

Digging a little, in the archives, there appeared a photo series featuring women in their everyday clothing and dressed to thrill. This seemed very interesting and I thought that it would be nice to share some of these images here

Strangely, none of those portrayed seemed any more or less sexually attractive in their dominant get-up than in their everyday clobber

But very different mental switches were thrown, depending on their attire and pose

Also, they all looked far more mature in their dominant guise. And I do mean mature and not older

The different outfits also changed my perception of their self-confidence levels

I wonder if they felt more self-confident, when dressed to oppress?

Whoever came up with the idea should be congratulated for it

This idea is a very clever exercise of how visual presentation effects mental perception

Even when the same person is presented in two different dominant attires

I hope that gave you all food for thought

  1. Hi Prefectdt, this is so interesting. I agree, totally different perception in their Domme gear. I don’t think I would have guessed any of them would be Domme’s looking at them in their every day gear.

  3. Oddball me again! I prefer them in their casual clothes. Domme gear is so cliche and contrived. How much more powerful is it to submit to someone in jeans and a T-shirt, not because they look the part, but ARE the part?

Not that they look bad dressed up. LOL

    • Hi KD, before I answer your comment, I would just like to say that I have had problems trying to comment on your blog again. I will keep trying. The situation has resolved itself, in the past.

I don’t know KD. I have not done the “School Boy” thing since the 1990s, but I do remember how it was easier to slip into the role when I had my uniform on than when I was wearing mufti. And some people, including myself, just like an excuse to play dress up. Perhaps it is the same for you but with the Ren fair thing

      • I think that is an excellent point and very defining of how one views their lifestyle. I love the dress-up of Halloween and the RenFaire precisely because I cannot go back in time and I cannot in reality be a thing that only exists in creepy fiction. However, I CAN live a D/s-DD lifestyle where my daily routine is what I and my partner wish it to be. And if what we wish is not a role but who we are, dressing up actually makes the moment seem more like Halloween than real life.

I think “Scene players” probably look at this differently, in fact I am positive they do. And there is nothing wrong if this is who you are. Hell, it fuels an industry on many levels from pro-dommes to fetish clothing suppliers. It’s just not how some of look at this.

(Sorry about the blog difficulties. I have noticed some random comments being relegated to my spam folder and also not being conveyed to me via email as they are supposed to be. I will look into this. The weird thing is even these anomalies are not 100% making me think it’s Blogger and not me.)

        • I had a comment bounced from morningstar’s blog yesterday. It does not happen as often as on your blog, but I have had it happen on other blogger blogs. I have a suspicion that it might have something to do with my location. Belgium being a small and multilingual country, we do tend to be low down on the list of places for getting updates to programs. This could be part of the problem.

I am not a scene player, I am a brat who likes funishments, role play and spanking just for the hell of it. I don’t do Ds or DD, but I have played at doing this and have found that if a play partner likes to dress the part, I am fine and dandy with that, if it helps with our little Am Dram

  4. I agree Prefectdt – there is something more mature about them in their Domme get-ups. It was amazing to see the side by side pictures…. I really enjoyed them!! When I first met Sir Steve he as in his leathers…. and for the first few times we met he was always in leather – made my knees go weak if I’m gonna be honest. Then I met up with him when he was wearing everyday clothes (jeans and tshirt) and he didn’t look ‘scary’ at all – more like a big teddy bear. (though I know my ‘teddy bear’ still has the leathers on on the inside – grinning)

  6. A very excellent post. Really fun to see pseudo normal, as some of the everyday are designed to portray innocence, and then the dom personality. Great photos.
