Coronavirus Update Belgium
As you might have guessed from the post title, things are not good here. From just around a thousand infections a day, just a few weeks ago and a much improved situation, we have now over 10000 new infections a day. Things haven’t been this bad since the second wave. This is now our fourth wave. Death rates seem to be lower, I presume, as a result of the successful vaccine rollout. But all the other numbers are bad and seem to still be getting worse. This seems to be the case from Belgium, Germany and Austria across the whole of the east of the EU. As can be seen from the latest, colour coded, infections map from the European authorities

The consultative committee, that advises the national Government, will meet again on the 19th of November. By which time we will almost certainly have reached the triggering number of more than 500 patients in ICU beds because of Covid-19. I suspect, at least a partial, if not total lockdown will be introduced after that. Unless someone has a Christmas miracle they would like to throw our way
