Christmas – I’m Not Feeling It
This is the first Christmassy post that I have made this year, apart from the December calendar and that is because I just don’t seem to be able to get into the spirit of the season. It looked like I was going to get my annual trip to the UK this year, to see my family and then all the plans went Omicron and travel restrictions to and from the UK look too ify to risk. So it is a second Christmas alone in Belgium. Not to put a downer on anyone else, this blog will start to have some Christmassy stuff on it. In the spirit of fake it until you make it. On the upside, it looks as though we might have turned a corner, with the numbers here, unless it is just a downward blip. Latest figures in the link

Hi Prefectdt, sorry to hear the damn pandemic looks to be upsetting Christmas plans again for you. Fingers and toes crossed that you may be able to be with your family after all
Hugs
Roz
I doubt it, Roz. For a start, I would have to spend a couple of days in a quarantine hotel, whilst waiting for the results of a PCR test, if this test is positive or undefined, I would be stuck in that hotel room for 10 days. And from what I am hearing, most of these hotels are already booked out, because of so many people travelling for the Christmas holiday

ohhhhhh Prefectdt – I’m so sorry to hear you won’t be able to get home again to see your family! We missed Christmas with our family too but only for one year…. we did manage to squeeze in a quick visit last year before they locked us down again. Not being with family does take the shine off the holidays for sure.
Wish you were closer – I’d give you one of my sweet baskets to try and cheer you up.
Your baking does look delicious, morningstar 🙂
At least there is plenty of technology, to keep in touch with. But I will have to hide all my stuff that is lying around, before face timing the folks back in the old country 🙂

Oh Pref, I am so sorry that yet again you wont be back to the UK for Christmas. Travel is a mess at the moment. You are right, people can’t book quarantine hotels as they are fully booked and some say they are terrible for the price they have to pay.
Hopefully (I know not the same) that you can come over in the New Year and have a belated Christmas celebration.
Love and best wishes.
Ronnie

If you have to spend a full 10 days, in one of those hotels, it is over 2000 pounds, Ronnie. And I have been listening to some of the horror stories on BBC radio 4. It does not seem worth the risk, even if they were not mostly booked out already. Hopefully I can get over some time in the first half of 2022.
I hope that you have the chance to see your kith and kin, over the holidays

Sorry for you, it’s really sad.
It happens Courandair. Hopefully you get to have a good time in France, presuming that your numbers start to improve too

I am really sorry to hear that you won’t get to see your family, my friend. That is just awful. Sending you hugs ❤
At least we have had no fatalities in the family, nora. That’s something to be thankful for. Hope your news for Daddy turns out to be good
Prefectdt
Thank you, Prefectdt. Unfortunately our news was of the worst kind. These are hard times. Take good care ❤
I’m truly sorry to hear that
Prefectdt
Thank you ❤
Sorry you will not be able to see your family safely at Christmas. The predictions for the newest version of covid are truly frightening. Stay safe, and maybe visit a disciplinarian to help out during this Christmas season. Sooner than later seems to be the word of the day.
bottoms up
Red
I might just do that Red. I now have two weeks of free time to kill, and not a lot planned
