At Least In The Northern Hemisphere
—
You might have noticed that there has been a bit of a birching theme, on this blog, since Saturday. I thought that I would bring that to an end today with a selection of images and a few thoughts on the subject.
I Wonder If Birches Turn Out Better, If You Get Naked To Make Them?
I will have to try it one day. Just to find out for myself 🙂
But Spring Is The Best Time Of Year To Make Birches
—
As birches are best made out of the newer growth of fast-growing trees and shrubs, you have the whole of last year’s new growth to play with.
—
And as most of the plants have not budded yet, you do not have the tedious task of picking all the leaves off the branches, before making the birch.
—
In spring, just prior to the buds bursting, the amount of sap running into the branches tends to increase. Making the branches a little heavier and more flexible than normal.
I Have Only Experienced Three Types Of Birch
There are dozens of trees and shrubs, that you can make birch rods out of, but I have only ever been on the receiving end of three of these.
Siberian dog wood birch

Although these look big, red and mean, these really are the birch for wimps. A spanker can thrash away with one of these and it is one of the easiest toys for the recipient to experience. The pain level is not high at all.
Willow birch
—
These are very ouchy and may be beyond the limits of a new spankee. But an experienced player will probably enjoy this toy. The type of pain sensation is special, even a bit yummy.
Hazel wood birch
—
I would describe being spanked with one of these as one of the most challenging spankee experiences that you can have. It is incredibly painful and it does not surprise me that they used to be used for real judicial punishments, in the bad old days.

And that concludes this little miniseries of birch related postings on this blog… For now 🙂
