COVID-19 Belgium, Four Weeks Of Hell
I truly thought that we were on the last lap of this pandemic but it turns out that the light at the end of the tunnel was just a train coming towards us. The bad numbers are climbing rapidly, the hospitals are starting to fill up again and it has been predicted that we are in for “Four weeks of hell” which means we get four weeks of purgatory, as new restrictions are introduced to counter the spread of the disease. These include schools being closed again, non-essential shops open by appointment only and……..Just follow the next two links if you want to know more

I so wish my body looked like that!
I’m sorry to hear about the surge in cases and that you will be under restrictions once again. This feels like a never ending nightmare.
Rightly or wrongly, my impression is that most countries never imposed lockdowns quite as strictly as our Government did last year. I know it’s a very hard call, the economic impacts etc, but perhaps they should have. I Dunno, just mussing.

Oh I’m so sorry that the numbers are climbing again. I think I’m with Roz. A lot of countries didn’t REALLY lock down the way we did either. All of us were super upset but in the end it really was for the better.
That tush is beautiful. Sigh. To be young and slim. lol.
Many countries in the developed west were under the illusion that this kind of thing never really could affect them. This pandemic has been a big learning process

When all this started Roz, we only had a stand in government who were only there to keep things rolling as negotiations for a new coalition happened. They did not have the power or authority to impose lockdown procedures until some time after the crisis began

The only way to stop the virus is to kill it, not live with it. Our politicians will not learn this for at least another year. Sad to say that all these restrictions you will have, and here in Canada also, will only dampen, but never eliminate! Thus as soon as you open up society, the virus will once again be rampant.
They have no idea how long the vaccine will work for, no plan to make it 100% mandatory for everyone, no idea if it is safe for children, and yet they cling to hoping the vaccine will end the virus. Insanity rules the day.
keep smiling. I have stopped watching the news, only read a bit at breakfast, and am a much happier person.

The vaccine seems to have had a positive effect in the UK Red. I’m still hoping that it will work here and in other places but only time will tell

We saw on the news that numbers were climbing in Poland, France and Germany. But they showed concerts occurring in Spain and Netherlands. It is hard to keep up with what is happening where.
I am sorry it is effecting Belgium again. UK is trying to open up slowly. Restaurants, pubs and shops have been closed since mid December. They were closed throughout the whole of November and then opened for two weeks and had to shut again. Kids went back to school 8th March and so far there does not seem to have been a big increase in numbers. But everyone is nervous…..yet desperate to see their family.
And now the Spanish authorities want everyone to wear face masks on the beach, there is a lot of flip-flopping going on Jenna. The bad numbers are starting to look better in the UK. let’s hope that trend continues

I think there is a mix of feelings here. Some are nervous, others behaving like they have just escaped from prison. There was some news footage of parks that were packed with young people going kinda crazy.
We are starting out more modestly….we had a glass of wine and a light bite with a a lady in our village who we helped a few times during the past year.
But we are looking forward to seeing some of our friends for a picnic or perhaps a huddle around the firepit in the garden.
I heard the news about parks being closed in Nottingham, you would think that people could enjoy a bit of freedom without going mad. I hope that you get that time with your friends, that is what I want right now, I’m sick and tired of spending so much time alone
